Chepang Hill Trekking
The Newly opened trekking trail to Chitwan Chepang Hill trek offers a splendid experience of rural communities and jungle safari. The trek is a good combination of cultural and sightseeing experience. Situated at an altitude of 1946m, Siraichuli Hill on the trail offers magnificent sunrise and sunset views. Wide range of Himalayas such as Annapurna Range, Gurkha Himal, Gaurishankar, Dhaulagiri, Langtang, Rolwaling, Manaslu, rare view of flatlands can be clearly observed from the hill. The other attractions of the trek and paragliding, home-stay, bird watching and rafting. Chepang, Tharu, Musahan, Satahar, Danuwar, Tamang, Kumal, Gurung and Magar. The Chepang is one of the indigenous ethnic groups of Nepal. With their own distinct language, the people of this community lead a nomadic life and their primary lifestyle includes hunting, foraging for wild roots and fishing and traditional farming near jungles. Their settlements, house construction, social organization, language, customs, festivals and religion are unique.
The trail begins at Hugdi, between Mugling and Krishna Bhir in Dhading district, about 90km. away from Kathmandu, and ends in Shaktikhor. Hattibhang, a major stop on the way, offers good scenery of the surrounding mountains and trek through pristine mid-hill forests.
